Local Area Schools

Case Study

The Clients

Creating a comfortable, well-lit learning environment is essential for student focus and success. Valley Shades has partnered with numerous schools across the region—including J.H. Kelly School, Burton Elementary, and several others—to modernize their classrooms and common areas with custom window treatment solutions. Our goal was to provide products that balance natural light control, durability, and energy efficiency while supporting each school’s unique architectural and aesthetic needs.

The Problem

Valley Shades conducted detailed site assessments to understand each building’s light exposure and classroom layout. We worked closely with school administrators and maintenance teams to select solutions that would meet their specific performance and budget requirements. Our team installed high-quality solar and blackout shades designed to manage glare, improve insulation, and allow for easy operation. Each installation was completed with minimal disruption to school activities, adhering to strict safety and scheduling standards.

Our Approach

Many of the schools were working with aging blinds and shades that were difficult to operate, inconsistent in appearance, and ineffective at controlling glare and temperature. Classrooms often faced excessive sunlight during the day, causing discomfort for students and distractions during lessons. Additionally, schools needed window treatments that were safe, low-maintenance, and capable of withstanding heavy daily use in busy educational environments.

The Outcome

The new window treatments have transformed classrooms and shared spaces across multiple campuses. Teachers and students benefit from better light control, reduced glare, and more stable indoor temperatures—all contributing to a more comfortable and focused learning atmosphere. Maintenance teams appreciate the durability and ease of use, while administrators value the long-term energy savings and cohesive, professional appearance. These projects reflect Valley Shades’ commitment to supporting local education through thoughtful design, reliable products, and seamless execution.
